Cancelling a telehealth subscription can be harder than signing up, hormones included. Here is how to cancel cleanly, the terms that catch people out, what to save before you lose account access, and the questions worth asking yourself first, because some reasons for cancelling are better solved another way.
Cancelling a telehealth subscription, for hormone therapy or GLP-1s, can take more steps than signing up. Most of it is not sinister, it is friction: cycles that renew on their own schedule, notice periods, and cancellation flows designed to offer you a pause instead.
Here is how to do it cleanly, and what to sort out before you click.

Worth thirty seconds, because some reasons are better solved another way.
"It is not working yet." Check how long it has been. Some symptoms improve within weeks and others take months; our guide to how long HRT takes to work sets out what the trials found.
"I am getting side effects." Many side effects can be managed by changing the dose or the route, so message the clinician first. If they will not engage, that is a genuine reason to leave, and now you have a better one. The exception, if you take estrogen: sudden changes in vision or speech, a sudden new severe headache, or severe chest pain or shortness of breath need emergency care. Call 911 rather than waiting for a reply. Severe leg pain, or another unusual symptom that worries you, also needs prompt medical attention.
"It is too expensive." Ask about a longer cycle, which is cheaper per month on some platforms. If you are on an FDA-approved product, price the generic at a retail pharmacy with a discount card, because that route is often cheaper than any subscription. Our guide on getting HRT without insurance covers the options.
"I want a different provider." Then do not cancel yet. Get the new prescription in hand first, or you will create a gap. See switching providers without a gap.
"I want to stop hormone therapy altogether." Reasonable, but stopping abruptly usually brings symptoms back fast. Our guide on stopping HRT safely covers tapering.
Account access frequently ends with the subscription, and people lose things they later need.

If you are charged after a confirmed cancellation, contact them once with the confirmation attached. If that fails, a chargeback with your card issuer is a legitimate route and the written confirmation is what makes it straightforward.
It is tempting and it backfires. It does not end the contract, it can leave you with an unpaid balance sent to collections, and it removes the clean paper trail you would want if there is a dispute. Cancel properly and use the chargeback only if they do not honour it.
If you are choosing a new provider, this is worth checking before you sign up rather than after. Reasonable terms look like: cancel any time, self-serve rather than message-only, no minimum term, no clawback on an introductory discount, and terms findable before payment rather than buried after.
A platform that hides its cancellation policy until you are a customer has told you something useful about how the rest of the relationship will go. It is one of the checks in our guide on telling a legitimate online HRT service from a risky one.
If you are moving rather than stopping, our ranked comparison of online HRT providers covers what each one includes and what it actually costs for a complete regimen.
